Treatments for the oral cancer are done as surgery, radiation therapy or chemotheraphy. But some patients might have both the treatments when the condition is critical. Surgery is the common treatment carried out for the oral cancer so as to remove the tumor in the mouth and nearby affected parts. Radiation therapy is done to patients who cannot undergo surgery and also for patients with small tumors. Radiation therapy is carried out to shrink the tumor and also to kill the cancer cells in the affected part. Chemotherapy is process of killing the cancer cells through anticancer drugs. The anti cancer drugs are given to the patients through injections. But every treatment has got its own side effects, but the side effects differ for each patient. Depending on their body condition as some other cells also gets destroyed during the treatment.
After the treatment, the person needs to be very careful as there is possibility for another infection. But the person who uses alcohol and tobacco are at risk for frequent cancer infections in other parts of the mouth too. Cancer can be prevented through proper life style.
